Open Energy Monitor Project
Go check it out.
Open energy monitor project. Our open hardware energy monitoring arduino compatible shield featuring the above circuit alongside voltage measurement for real power calculation. The openenergymonitor project was founded out of a desire for open source tools to help people understand and relate to their use of energy their energy systems and the challenge of sustainable energy. An all in one 2 circuit energy monitor and base station which collects data hosts the emoncms software and can also receive data from other sensor nodes. These calculators are designed to help you determine the values of the components you ll need for the current transformer s used in the open energy monitor project.
Use at your own risk. Monitor electricity temperature and humidity. Please note these calculators do not take into account core permeability and core al value. Open source energy monitoring tools to help us relate to our use of energy our energy systems and the challenge of sustainable energy.
In order to overcome these limitations of existing energy monitoring systems this study presents an entirely open source low cost power monitoring system which is capable of many types of measurements for both loads and generation sources such as solar photovoltaic systems wind power microhydro biomass or fuel cells. The system is fully open source both hardware and software. The next 20 years will see a revolution in our energy systems as we switch away from fossil fuels towards a zero carbon energy supply. All hardware is based on the arduino and raspberry pi platforms.
